VAU Members Show 2016
1 October 2016 until 16 October 2016
Main Gallery, St Margaret's House, 151 London Road, Edinburgh, EH7 6AE
Visual Artist Unit commits itself to the dual aims of supporting emerging artists based in Scotland and improving public engagement and access to contemporary art for the wider community.
Each year, VAU hosts an Annual Members Show in a different location, showcasing individual works by each artist member of the collective and the VAU management committee.
VAU was set up by 8 graduates from Grays School of Art and Duncan of Jordanstone in 2014 and started with a Members Show by the same 8 artists at the Old Hairdresser’s in Glasgow the same year.
Now, two years, on VAU presents their third Members Show featuring a piece of work from each of their 40 members, this time in the Main Gallery at St Margaret’s House in Edinburgh!
The Annual Members Show aims to encourage the production of new work and upcoming talent. VAU recognizes the difficulties and challenges that emerging and practicing artists can face in promoting their work and practice and therefore realise the importance of a continually reliable platform in which our members can exhibit work to a wider audience.
Opening event: Saturday 1st October 1-4pm
Refreshments and nibbles provided – all welcome!
