Join a virtual tour of Mid-Century Modern: Art & Design from Conran to Quant with Dovecot Exhibitions Curator Kate Grenyer.
Mid-Century Modern: Art & Design from Conran to Quant presents the design, fashion, and art of a group of radical young architects, designers, photographers, and artists who redefined the concept of youth and the established order of post-war Britain.
At the forefront of this group of young revolutionaries were Mary Quant, Terence Conran, and Bernard and Laura Ashley, who were influenced by the teachings of Eduardo Paolozzi and the Independent Group. Explore the furniture, fashion, textiles, lighting, ceramics, and printed material that defined Mid-Century Modern in an exhibition that delves into not only the style, but the socioeconomic importance of this transformative period.
This exhibition was open during 2020 at Dovecot Studios. Whether you missed it, or want to jump back in time to 1960s Britain, there is a perfect chance to explore the Mid-Century Modern era from the comfort of your own home.
