(Uist Preview Friday 1 August 6.00 – 8.00pm Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum & Art Centre, Lochmaddy, North Uist)
Are you LOCATIONALIZED is a new work by Joanne Tatham and Tom O’Sullivan sited across the two Hebridean islands of Skye and North Uist. The artists were invited by ATLAS Arts to make new work for GENERATION that, in common with their other works, engaged not just with the location it would be shown within, but also with the context of its commission.
The work combines photography, sculpture, text and audio to make a composite piece that challenges a viewer to make sense of it as a whole. Together these elements combine to create Are you LOCATIONALIZED, a work that engages with ideas of place, localness and cultural identity and then considers how art is expected to negotiate or represent such ideas.
Are you LOCATIONALIZED runs until 30 September 2014
