ARTIST ROOMS and Engage Scotland invite you to a workshop and networking session on creative ways to work with artists to deliver engaging learning programmes. Throughout the session we will explore the ARTIST ROOMS Self Evidence: Photographs by Woodman, Arbus and Mapplethorpe exhibition and associated learning activities at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
ARTIST ROOMS and Engage Scotland have partnered to bring Associates and members working in learning and engagement roles in galleries, museums and the visual arts together for this session which will include:
An in depth workshop led by artist Alicia Bruce demonstrating ways to engage with the Self Evidence exhibition, exploring self portraiture and photography. The session will include a practical opportunity to respond to the exhibition by making your own self portraits inspired by Francesca Woodman, Diane Arbus and Robert Mapplethorpe.
A session with Robin Baillie, Senior Outreach Officer at the National Galleries of Scotland sharing the process behind creating the in gallery interpretation and artwork produced by a group of young people based in Edinburgh in response to the Self Evidence exhibition.
An opportunity to hear about the current ARTIST ROOMS national exhibition and developmental programme and current Engage Scotland activity.
Networking drinks from 5pm, a chance to meet and chat to other visual art professionals and share your own ideas and best practice.
A last chance to see ARTIST ROOMS Self Evidence: Photographs by Woodman, Arbus and Mapplethorpe which closes on 20 October.
