TALK: Barbara Rowell
11am – 12pm

Earlier this year Barbara Rowell was awarded a Bursary by Luminate and the Saltire Society to develop a new artistic idea. She worked in collaboration with a group of women artists to explore the concept of shame through visual art, sound and movement. Barbara will discuss her work and experience as an older emerging artists with Nicholas Bone, Artistic Director, Magnetic North.

12pm – 1pm

Join us for a guided tour of the Timefield installation by photographer Frank McElhinney, who attended a residential lab for older emerging artists run by Luminate in partnership with Magnetic North in 2017.

Timefield is a cross-art collaborative installation developed by six older artists: Ian Cameron, Kate Clayton, Frank McElhinney, Annie Peel, Lesley Wilson and John Wills.

This installation draws together photographs showing the impact of time on the body, large scale painted wall hangings communicating the force of nature and a soundscape integrating spoken word with sounds from the natural world. Timefield runs from Sat 27th April to Sat 25th May from 10am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday. Visit for more information.
