PERFORMANCES MollyMae Whawell with Jay Delves all at 3pm Sun 14th, Thurs 18th, Sat 20th, Thurs 25th.
The second exhibition in the GSA Summer Series at Civic Room, Boundings, by Kirsty Leonard and MollyMae Whawell, featuring sculpture, performance and sound-based work opens on Thursday 11 August until Sunday 28th August. The work in Boundings reflects on the Civic Room’s occupation of a space that was a channel for production, development and profitable progress. The artists propose a stilling of the space by engaging the notion of the laboring body in terms of reluctance, aimlessness and weariness. Kirsty Leonard’s work follows from a Glasgow street song concerning a Bleachfield worker who waits patiently for her beloved to return to from sea, while MollyMae Whawell addresses notions of production, combining research into movement, dance, sculpture and Scotland’s linen trade. The show runs until Sunday 28th August, open 12pm to 5pm from Tuesdays to Sundays.
