Clay Movement – Ceramic Hand-building Course with Florence Dwyer

Tuesdays | 1800 – 2000

9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th April, 7th & 14th May

Over a series of 6 sessions you will be introduced to a variety of hand building methods that encourage experimentation and collaborative ways of working. Focusing on unconventional ways of making and working with clay, you’ll be responding to found objects, developing processes of mark making, mixing clay types, and working with surface decoration.

Florence Dwyer‘s practice takes interest in our relationship to the design of the built environment and through physical methods of enquiry, she seeks to question hierarchies and levels of autonomy in relation to this. Her work questions ideas of functionality and predominantly takes the form of ceramics, textile pieces, furniture and photography.

Florence graduated from the Glasgow School of Art with a BA (Hons) in 2014. Recent exhibitions include Making the Bed, Laying the Table, Glasgow Sculpture studios (2016), So It Is, The Briggait and is about to undertake a residency at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop in Lumsden.
