Curating Contexts

00:00 on 26 June 2006

The focus for the day was collecting. Speakers explored different approaches to acquiring contemporary artwork for public collections. Following the presentations, time was allowed to discuss aspects of acquiring work, from project work, temporary exhibition or commission – concentrating on ways of maximising support for collecting. A key note presentation by Baroness Young of Hornsey focused on how collecting contemporary artwork can reflect and challenge thinking about contemporary society. The seminar closed with an evening reception.
