CURATORIAL STUDIO: Le Peuple Qui Manque Workshop
10:00 on 8 February 2020
Workshop for Early Career Curators
Curatorial Studio: Le Peuple Qui Manque (A people is missing)
This event is free and open to applications. Lunch will be provided
Led by Aliocha Imhoff and Kantuta Quirós, this workshop examines examples of theory and artworks that introduce concerns within their ongoing curatorial practice, most recently the installation What Are They Asking For? To Become Something for the Biennale de Lyon, 2019. The workshop begins with a seminar to introduce contemporary political and philosophical spheres concerned with environmental issues and questions of who has the right, and/or ability, to speak on behalf of others. Together we will respond to the selected materials and use Aliocha and Kantuta’s curatorial work as a shared reference point, in order to create a wider discussion about how such issues related to our own curatorial practices.
There are 10 free places available on this workshop, which is aimed at early career and freelance curators. The workshop will require a small amount of preparation in advance and participants should be ready for active participation. Numbers are limited and we hope to ensure that participants from across the country, and with wide range of backgrounds, have a chance to take part. To request a place please email [email protected] with a short CV and a short note of no more than 100 words telling us why you would like to take part. The deadline is noon on January 30. We are sorry that we may not be able to meet all the requests for a place.
