Edinburgh Green Tease with North Edinburgh Arts
24 October 2014 until 14 October 2014
North Edinburgh Arts
We’re very pleased to invite you to our next Edinburgh Green Tease, taking place on Friday 24th October 3 – 5pm, at North Edinburgh Arts.
At this next event we’ll be focusing on the links between the arts, urban agriculture and social/financial sustainability through NEA’s current community growing project – North Edinburgh Grows – and will be led by Kate Wimpress, Director of NEA, and Valla Moodie, coordinator of the community growing project.
The themes of food, agriculture and land use, have been and continue to be an important feature of artistic practices engaged with sustainability and this event offers the chance to reflect on actions being taken in the context of NEA and Muirhouse. As well as supporting individuals and community groups in the Muirhouse area to produce their own fruit and veg, the North Edinburgh Grows project ties in with the wider sustainability interests of NEA including skills development and employability, health promotion and regeneration of the local area. We’ll hear from Kate and Valla about these wider aims and will have a tour of the garden with discussions involving members of the local community.
As always Green Tease is always open to anyone interested in exploring what roles artists and artistic organisations can play in growing a more sustainable Edinburgh, so feel free to pass this on to anyone you think would like to join us. NEA is a 20 – 25 minute bus ride from the city centre on the 27, 32 or 37 Lothian Bus routes. Full directions can be found here: http://www.northedinburgharts.co.uk/locate.php
Please RSVP to gemma.lawrence@creativecarbonscotland.com by 5pm on Thursday 23rd October.
