Acts for placing woollen and linen
21 March –15 June 2020
Our 2020 programme launches this March with ‘Acts for placing woollen and linen’, an exhibition by American artist Helen Mirra.
The exhibition will open with ‘Standard Incomparable’, a project of international scope brought together in 2015 by Mirra and comprising a temporary collection of weavings made by weavers from 17 countries and all born between 1949 and 2009.
Over the final three weeks of the exhibition, the weavings will be taken down one-by-one and walked from our building by participants (both local and from further afield), who will find places in the surrounding landscape to leave them. This ‘decremental’ process will constitute a new work by Mirra called ‘Acts for placing woollen and linen.’
