Exhibition: Plein Air Live at Glasgow Botanic Gardens
14 September 2017 until 30 September 2017
Glasgow Botanic Gardens
Plein Air is a project which has been nine years in development. Goto and Collins have worked with a team of scientists, technologists and musicians to construct a box easel for the 21st Century in a bid to seek an authentic experience ‘in nature’. We think you will be surprised by real-time sounds produced as a tree reacts to atmospheric changes in the greenhouse.
Collaborators include Chris Malcolm and producer Georg Dietzler, Dave Russ who has done the engineering on the final electronic sensor system, Noel Hefele has worked on the graphics and webwork from Brooklyn, NY. A small catalogue and a CD with more robust samples from recordings of an Elderberry, Hawthorne and Oak are available at the exhibit, and a preview of the vinyl album that will be out by the end of the year.
Listen to three introductory sound samples here.
