Learn Screenprinting with James Vass
10:00 on 25 May 2019
Peacock Visual Arts, 21 Castle Street
Join James Vass in our workshops and learn or brush up on the basics of Screenprinting.
Screenprinting is a great way to work in layers of colour that can be built up one at a time. Using transparent film, you will be able to block out with opaque pens and paper where you want your next colour to sit. Any opaque marks and shapes will be positioned onto a screen covered with a light-sensitive emulsion. Once exposed to the UV light your screen can be sprayed with water, washing away the emulsion only in the areas that have had opaque pen marks or torn paper in place. When you pass your inky rubber bladed ‘squeegee’ over the screen’s mesh, ink will only go through your drawn areas. All other areas are blocked in with that sensitive emulsion that your ink cannot penetrate.
This class is suitable for ages 16+ no experience required
