NOTES Journal launch
18:00 on 21 November 2017
National Library of Scotland
NOTES Journal launches its third issue at the National Library of Scotland. The event is free but ticketed.
We will start the evening by a short introduction about the journal’s ethos, goals and mandate. Following this, artist Anthony Schrag, who has contributed a piece of writing on James Chris Parker’s photography project Boys, Bikes and Bucket Hats will talk about travel and expressions of masculinity. Finally, we will open the floor to questions, after which it will be possible to aquire a copy of the new issue.
Today, it is easier to say what photography isn’t than to try to describe what it is. NOTES Journal is a artist-led Scottish periodical devoted to developing visual and critical discourses in contemporary photography. Its goals are to represent, examine and contribute to diversity in Scottish photography thinking and practice through a dynamic, inquisitive and exploratory process. We hope you will join the conversation with us at the National Library.
Other contributors in this third issue of NOTES are Ben Soedira, Rachel Fermi, Natalie Feather, Erica Eyres, Ambera Wellmann, Nathanial Gardner and Kent Klich. Book reviews courtesy of Eszter Biró who has an early look at Sarah Amy Fishlock’s yet unpublished book “Beloved Curve”; and Sarah Irving looks at “A Beach” by Swedish duo B-B-B-Books.
