Sculptural Lighting with Paperclay
16 March 2020 until 20 April 2020
Studio Pavilion at House for an Art Lover
This is a short introductory course, which is ideal for those that have some experience of working with clay. In the first week we will look at the properties and the possibilities this can create in making sculptural lighting pieces, benefiting from the translucency and delicate nature of working with this particular clay.
16/03 Rolling out slabs of paper clay and beginning to use press molds to create forms from which sculptural lighting pieces will be made.
23/03 Continue working with slabs and molds. Use slip for dipping and attaching organic textures and shapes.
30/03 Finish pieces to be fired (first firing)
06/04 Apply clear glaze
13/04 Reflecting on fired & glazed pieces, develop further ideas to make lighting pieces.
20/04 Finish final pieces ready to be fired.
