Talk: The House that Spirits Built (Is that the foundation for your theory?)

18:00 on 11 September 2019
House for an Art Lover

Book now

We’re excited to announce a series of talks that have been programmed alongside Rachel Adams & Tessa Lynch’s collaborative exhibition “Stoop, Stoop, Stooping is Stoopid!” on display in the Studio Pavilion at House for an Art Lover. This series delivered by a variety of academics, writers, artists and historians aims to expand upon some of the artists’ research interests as well as provide an insight into a variety of subjects touched upon by the exhibition.

From Glasgow’s ‘Spook School’ to The Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, this talk considers how the work of women designers and architects in the early twentieth century has been circumscribed to the realms of horror.

Rosie O’Grady is an artist based in Glasgow. She was recently awarded a Glasgow School of Art Curatorial Fellowship, producing a project called ‘Strange Weather’, and is currently resident at Talbot Rice (Edinburgh) 2018-2020. For Glasgow International 2018, Rosie was awarded the Open Bursary, presenting a solo exhibition ‘May Day’ at House for an Art Lover.

Refreshments will be served at the event.

This event is FREE, however booking is essential.
