We Are Upland Symposium
10:00 on 5 February 2016
Dumfries & Galloway College, Bankend Road, DG1 4FD
Upland’s Symposium is the official launch for Upland Arts Development Community Interest Company, marking a signifcant moment in Upland’s timeline. Upland CIC is a bold, ambitious, world-class, rural-based visual art and craft development organisation established in September 2015 as a direct result of the Evolution Project which Spring Fling CIC undertook with consultants and support from the sector throughout 2015.
Our Symposium has a varied programme which brings together professional artists, makers and designers. Artistic and creative professionals from Dundee, Skye, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Argyll & Bute and Dumfries & Galloway working nationally and internationally in some of Scotland’s most inspiring and forward thinking arts organisations and collectives are contributing their ideas and thoughts around the power of networks, the exchange of knowledge and what it means to be part of a creative community in 2016.
We have also incorporated two areas into the symposium programme which Upland plans to research, develop partnerships around and nurture interest in over the coming year. These are residency opportunities for artists and makers regionally, nationally and internationally and the idea around time banking and skills swap for artists and makers.
There will be time for networking over lunch and a reception in the evening enabling an informal opportunity to meet the speakers from the day, make new connections and no doubt catch up with old friends and make some new ones.
