Weekend Course - Cut and Play with Wood with Sam Stead
21 March 2020 until 22 March 2020
Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop
A short introduction into cutting simple shapes out of different woods and wood products using a variety of saws and constructing them into sculptural forms. The forms generated will be three-dimensional sketches rather than finished objects and are intended to allow you to explore ideas of material and form through swift experimentation. The course will introduce you to woodwork machinery including bandsaw and jigsaw and hand tools.
Sam Stead is an artist based in Reading. He enjoys making sculpture in all kinds of materials but is always happiest in front of a bandsaw. He studied Fine Art at the Glasgow School of Art and then spent 9 years working at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop. Sam is currently teaching at Reading College in their Creative Industries Makerspaces.
Saturday and Sunday, 21 and 22 March 2020, 10-4pm, £235 (£212)
