Creative Practitioner Residencies – contemporary music composition
Closing date 22 January 2023
Bothy Project are delighted to announce the open call for their latest set of Creative Practitioner residencies. Applications are now open for five week-long, funded residencies dedicated to contemporary music composition.
This opportunity is open to those working in all genres of music who are writing original compositions for multiple musicians, voices and other sonic material, or a combination of these elements. Applicants should have between three and six years of composing experience but are yet to have work performed on a significant scale. Applicants must be based in the UK.
You may be starting a new work, developing an ongoing piece, or completing a project. Each residency offers time and space for contemplation, creativity and focus. It is not necessary for your work to engage with the residency location.
Residencies will take place throughout 2023 at Sweeney’s Bothy, a simple off-grid building in unique surroundings on the Isle of Eigg.
Each selected practitioner will receive:
- One-week residency time at Sweeney’s Bothy
- A fee of £500
- Travel allowance of up to £250 (use of public transport is encouraged)
- Online meeting opportunities with fellow residents
- Participation in a post-residency online public event with fellow residents
