Inverness Openarts Artist Facilitator
Closing date 8 December 2021
Wasps wishes to appoint 4 Artist Facilitators to deliver a monthly programme of open access, visual-arts drop-in sessions in Inverness. Titled ‘Inverness Openarts’, the sessions will run as part of an exciting new community outreach project designed to support wellbeing, promote social inclusion, and increase accessibility to artmaking for disadvantaged groups in the Inverness area.
In alignment with its commitment to support artists’ creative and professional development, Wasps wishes to appoint a mixture of recent graduates (0-3 years’ experience) and experienced working artists (3+years). Each session will then be delivered by a pair of Artist Facilitators; one new graduate and one more experienced artist, enabling collaborative working, mutual support, and joint learning.
Opportunities for professional development will be available through paid training and partnership working with public/third sector organisations.
About Wasps
Wasps is a charity and social enterprise which has been operating in Scotland for 44 years. Wasps is now Scotland’s largest provider of supported artists’ studio space, supporting 1,000 creative individuals and organisations at 20 buildings across the country, from Shetland to Selkirk.
Wasps believes that art has the power to inspire, educate, and transform lives. Our aim is to be an inspirational home for creative practice, enabling Scotland’s artists to realise and share their talent and skills with the communities in which they work, and across the world. To achieve this, Wasps supports our artist tenants with more than just space. We organise exhibitions, open studios, markets and residencies in our buildings, increasing opportunities for our tenants to make a living out of their art, and engage with the public.
Wasps is committed to recruiting based on merit, and to the principles of equality and diversity. We highly value the benefits of having different points of view and experiences represented by the people who work with us. Accordingly, Wasps welcomes and treats equally the applications from minority groups relating to – but not limited to – race and ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender, age and physical limitation.
