Govanhill Baths is looking for a new Woodwork Technician for our community woodwork workshop
Rags to Riches is Govanhill Baths creative reuse and upcycling social enterprise. The Woodwork Technician will be responsible for managing and maintaining our woodwork workshop, ensuring the safe and effective use of machinery and tools. They will lead hands-on woodwork workshops for community groups and oversee community build projects, such as planters, fences, and public seating, using reclaimed materials wherever possible.
The technician will also support the production of furniture and products for community groups, ensuring high standards of craftsmanship while upholding the principles of sustainability and the circular economy.
This role requires a strong understanding of woodworking techniques, health & safety procedures, and sustainability principles. The Woodwork Technician will collaborate closely with our Recycled Plastics Studio and other facilitators to share learning, support projects, and deliver high-quality workshops.
The technician will be delivering a variety of tasks across two days. Work plans are co-designed with the Woodwork Technician and the Rags to Riches Manager on a regular basis to ensure projects are delivered according to resources.
15 hours per week (2 days)
Salary: £10,530 – full time equivalent £26,325 +4% pension
