About

Birthe Jorgensen

Artist, educator and cross-disciplinary researcher

Birthe is a visual artist, educator and cross-disciplinary researcher. Between 2005 and 2011 she developed a role as ‘Live Visual Artist’ within the interdisciplinary company Apocryphal Theatre in London, through which insights were gained that continue to inform her practice.

In 2018 she was awarded the British Council’s Scotland–Argentina Residency Exchange Programme, and she has exhibited, performed and spoken about her work in Scotland, Europe and the USA. Fusing traditional media with more fast and fluid technologies, Birthe is currently exploring the power and potential of poly-vocal forms of expression in complex, multicultural times, in collaboration with artist Sogol Mabadi, Taseralik (Sisimuit, Greenland), VA Space (Isfahan, Iran) and Glasgow Women’s Library and Platform.

Between 2013 and 2017 she lectured at the Glasgow School of Art, and she has guest lectured at the Royal Conservatoire Scotland and Iceland Academy of the Arts.
