Ginny’s art practice is concerned with language and the materiality of paint, ontological philosophies and the spaces in and around paintings. Her work seeks to stage new experiences of space, by pushing and pulling flat geometric patterns and shapes through depictions of her environment. The introduction of these varying signs, symbols, colours and languages open up a different dimension of shifting representations.
Ginny is also a Fine Arts Lecturer, and has worked in collaboration with DJCAD in Dundee, the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in China, Leith School of Art and the Edinburgh International Festival. She specialises in teaching drawing, painting and printmaking and has been working as an arts tutor in Edinburgh since 2013. She was artist in residence at Edinburgh Academy during 2013 to 2014, and gained her MFA in Fine Arts and Humanities at the University of Dundee in 2016.
