Màiri Lafferty


I am an artist and producer based in Edinburgh. I studied Sculpture at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and gained a Masters in Fine Art from the Glasgow School of Art.

As a practising artist, I work predominantly with moving-image. Recent projects include: Droste with MAP as part of Footnoting the Archive and CURRENT: Contemporary Art from Scotland with Cooper Gallery and Shanghai Himalayas Museum. I have undertaken residencies at Cove Park, Hospitalfield Arts and No-w-here lab in London. In 2009, was an Artist in Residence as part of the Scottish Pavilion at the 53rd Venice Biennale.

I have worked as a freelance producer and programmer in film and visual art. Currently, I am the Curator of Engagement at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, working across curatorial, education, and digital teams and with external partners to promote and deepen audience engagement around the programme.

In 2014 I was the Digital Coordinator for GENERATION, a nationwide programme of exhibitions and events celebrating 25 years of contemporary art in Scotland.
