Circus Artspace: Graduate Internship

Circus Artspace run an internship programme, 4 times a year we will advertise for one intern post. Interns will work as part of the Circus collective gaining first hand experience in all the activities carried out by an artist-run collective.
Successful applicants will develop their professional practice through actively taking part in all aspects of our projects including day-to-day running of contemporary art exhibitions, administrative tasks and marketing. We are looking for reliable candidates who can work independently and flexibly for one day a week and 3 days a week during exhibitions – over a period of three months.
Successful interns will receive a £300 stipend to cover any out of pocket expenses i.e. travel, lunch.
Interns will take part in weekly team meetings as well as have the opportunity to be part of peer review sessions. The internship culminates in a project, new work or an event to be developed by the intern under the mentorship of the Circus collective.
Open Call Summer 2019:
Circus are delighted to announce a call out to all artists who have graduated from an arts degree within the last three years and are based in the Highlands or Moray.
This three month internship will run from Tuesday 18th June – Tuesday 17th September. During this period interns will be expected to be available 1 day per week. We normally meet on Tuesday evening every week, although some flexibility around meetings is required.
In addition, there will be two exhibition periods:
1st – 14th July
Exhibition #1 install & invigilation
19th August – 1st September
Exhibition #2 install & invigilation
During these 4 weeks we will need a commitment of 3 days a week, so please make sure you are available before applying.
Please include an artist CV, examples of recent work (6 jpgs or film links) and a letter of interest (max. 400 words) which should include: a brief artist’s statement; how Circus can support you during your internship (ie. advice on funding, skills sharing, space to make work); and what you would like to achieve by the end (ie. create new work, curate an event, work towards realising a current project).
