SKREI Convention Artist Residency Open Call

Residency Dates: Summer – October 2019, a total of 7 weeks
Location: Nyvågar, Lofoten, Norway
Partners: Museum Nord with Project Partners CERS (Italy), Ílhavo Museo (Portugal) and Associated Partners in Norway: Lofoten Mat, Nordland Akademi
Fee: 7,000 € + travel and accommodation

Museum Nord, in the context of the SKREI Convention Project, is looking to initiate a collaboration with a creative practitioner/s (artist, designer, chef, architect and other), whose primary practice explores the nature of food and its relation to political, social, economic and environmental contexts. The residency aims to highlight the relevance of salted and dried cod as a natural resource and valuable foodstuff for the future.

The residency will have a duration of seven weeks, starting in Summer 2019 and ending during the SKREI Convention final conference, at Museum Nord on the 12-15th October 2019. Prior to the conference, the artist/s is/are invited to participate in a workshop alongside the other two artists from Portugal and Italy who are also involved in the artistic residencies of the SKREI Convention project.

SKREI Convention is a project which sets out to re-imagine the historic trade routes of dried and salted cod fish from the North of Norway to the Baltic Sea as far as Germany, the UK, Italy and Portugal. The project is supported by the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, Creative Europe cooperation projects. Partners are CERS Italia, the Ílhavo Maritime Museum and Museum Nord.
