Help us stand up for Culture Workers

- 1 February 2023

We have been working hard to make MSPs aware of culture cuts and to ask the Scottish government to change its mind. We need your help to tell them why it matters to you.

The Scottish Budget bill 2023-2024 is currently being considered by parliament. The draft budget includes a dramatic 10% cut to Creative Scotland’s grant in aid. We believe the cut, which is targeted at the budget supporting Scotland’s nationwide network of regularly-funded organisations, puts the future of culture provision and culture jobs across Scotland at risk.

We have two more weeks to keep making the case for culture. You can help us make the case by writing to constituency and regional MSPs across Scotland using this easy form. We’ve prepared some ideas for letters, see below. Make sure you tell them a little about yourself and make the case for culture in your own area, whether that’s as an artist, a freelance worker, or as an organisation. Share our asks with friends, colleagues and staff teams across the cultural community, you don’t need to be a SCAN member to call for change.
