A statement of principles to promote and protect the value of culture in Scotland
3 September 2014
This Briefing Paper is intended to inform debate on how best to enshrine the value of culture in Scotland in light of the recent International Culture Summit hosted by the Scottish Parliament in August, and ahead of the Independence Referendum on 18 September, irrespective of the result.
The paper has been circulated to all MSPs this month (August 2014). Jean Urquhart MSP has agreed to champion the paper in Parliament in her capacity as Chair of the Cross Party Group on Culture. She has now placed a Parliamentary motion (number 10841).
Parliament goes into recess on Friday for the referendum, so after the referendum and building on the outcome, Culture Counts will invite the above MSPs, along with Jean Urquhart, to meet to discuss how they can support the goals outlined in our briefing paper.
