Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Report

SCAN commissioned a report from freelance curator and researcher Samar Ziadat that would summarise easily available data on the demographics of the Scottish visual art workforce and audiences, with a focus on protected characteristics (including socio-economic deprivation). This factual report highlights the data available on these demographics, the gaps in information that we require to provide an accurate and representative overview of the sector’s demographics, and some of the barriers which hinder marginalised communities’ opportunities to access the Scottish visual arts. The report forms part of the SCAN’s equalities, diversity and inclusion plan and will inform our future work in this area.
