SCAN supports talks series from Earth Climate Scotland

SCAN is delighted to be supporting an ongoing series of talks from Earth Climate Scotland, an initiative exploring topics related to the arts, ecology, energy, land, sea, and the environment. Set up by artists Tim Collins and Janie Nicoll, Earth Climate Scotland aims to enable discourse about arts-based approaches to sustainability and climate change, considering arts theories and practices, curatorial approaches and arts-led research. The initiative originated from the Climate and Sustainability Working Group, established by Janie at the Scottish Artists Union as a response to COP 26 in Glasgow.

So far, SCAN has supported online talks by artist Deirdre O’Mahony on the politics of landscape in Ireland (August 2025) and curator Viviana Checchia on the living practice of social permaculture (September 2025), also supported by Glasgow Sculpture Studios (GSS).

On 19 November 2025, SCAN and GSS will support a talk from artist Ailie Rutherford on feminist economics and hidden labour – book free tickets here.

Details of further speakers into 2026, to be announced.

You can watch recordings of the first two online talks below:
