Thank you for considering becoming a SCAN member. Members are at the heart of everything we do, contributing to the energy, vision and ideas that drive the organisation.
SCAN membership starts at £25 per year. You can join as an individual (artist, curator, producer, other arts worker) or as an organisation (gallery, museum, artist-led project, studio, workshop). Your membership runs for one year from the date you sign up.
Membership benefits
Network
- Connect with fellow visual art professionals across Scotland.
- Stay informed about visual arts activity in Scotland, from professional development opportunities to exhibitions, talks and artists’ projects.
- Free access to an annual programme of member meet-ups held in-person across Scotland, with a focus on sharing and networking.
- Access to one of our SCAN’s communities of practice – two meet-ups per year designed for artists, curators, artist-run and voluntary collectives, and organisations.
- Monthly in-person meet-ups with our Highland Membership Lead.
Support
- Access to training through SCAN Support, our online training and sharing programme with monthly sessions.
- Access to a member-only resource area on the SCAN website (coming 2026).
- Access Office Hours – bookable one-to-one sessions with the SCAN team for expertise, signposting and support, open to all members with three 45 minute slots per month.
- Receive the SCAN Circular, a fortnightly newsletter packed with sector and member news and opportunities, direct to your inbox.
- Receive our member-only bulletin, a monthly update on advocacy, policy, resources, and ways for you to get involved with SCAN.

- Invitation and full voting rights at SCAN’s AGM
- Free tickets to SCAN’s annual member programme of events, webinars and support opportunities.
- Free tickets to the annual SCAN Summit, our flagship in-person symposium.
- Free tickets to three annual SCAN Gatherings which bring members and the wider cultural sector together.
- Free or low-cost tickets to SCAN’s Cultivate programme
Visibility and Advocacy
- Promote your projects through the SCAN website and SCAN Circular fortnightly bulletin
- Feature your events, jobs and opportunities on our social media channels, reaching our online audience of over 28,000 people.
- Contribute to advocacy and policymaking by being part of our case studies and help SCAN to gather evidence when lobbying Scottish Government and other decision makers
- Boost your own advocacy projects with support and signposting from SCAN, including being part of SCAN’s MSP engagement campaign.

Organisations:
Unfunded/voluntary collective £25 Offers an organisational profile and one named member.
Small organisation £64 Recommended for organisations with a turnover up to £120,000. Offers an organisational profile and up to two named members.
Standard organisation £127 Recommended for organisations with a turnover up to £360,000. Offers an organisational profile and up to four named members.
Large organisation £254 Recommended for organisations with a turnover over £360,000. Offers an organisational profile and up to six named members.
Associate Organisation: Open to organisations such as public bodies, universities, think tanks, foundations and development agencies who have a strong interest in the Scottish contemporary art community as a site of deep thinking, innovative practices, cross-sectoral impacts – and want to support SCAN’s work in policymaking, advocacy and developing sector best practice.
Offers an organisational profile and up to two named members. Associate benefits are the same as member benefits, excluding attending and voting at the AGM.

Individuals:
Concession individual £25 This applies to students, those on benefits, pensioners and anyone working part-time or independently on a very low income.
Individual £51 This applies to all other individual artists, curators, producers or other arts workers.
