An immersive exhibition and live styling event showcasing the sustainable textiles and interior pieces created during our workshops.

Celebrate the first Blank Canvas residency with Ayr-based textile and surface pattern designer Aimee Kent, who will have spent the month of June developing Pattern Drenched: MAKE a 2026 Interior through a series of free collaborative, community workshops at MAKE→ Book workshop here

Aimee is a Scotland-based designer with over fifteen years’ experience across fashion, textiles and branding, known for her expressive, sustainable approach to surface pattern. During the residency she has been working with participants to explore hand-dyeing, eco-printing using food waste and print techniques, building a shared body of work that transforms the MAKE studio into an immersive patterned interior.

This final event brings everything together in a live exhibition and styling session, showcasing how textiles created across the workshops are developed into finished interior pieces. A seamstress will be on site making frilled cushions from participants’ fabrics, demonstrating how experimental samples can become functional design objects.

Aimee will also present her own residency work, including wallpaper, printed textiles and repurposed interior pieces developed during her time at MAKE. The space will be styled live for a photoshoot, followed by a discussion on sustainable design, circular making and creative reuse.

Guests will also experience a food element inspired by the residency, alongside an open print station where participants can continue experimenting with block printing, stamps and fabric paints used throughout the workshops, creating their own take-home pieces.

BLANK CANVAS PROGRAMME:

Blank Canvas is a six month Artists in Residence programme from June-December 2026 in Make at 30 Newmarket Street, Ayr. Each artist will have a month-long, public-facing artist residency in Ayr, curated by Narture CIC looking at Food and Art. It invites creatives from different disciplines to develop new work in a visible street-level studio, with the process unfolding in real time from making through to final exhibition. The programme focuses on food, art, sustainability and regeneration, and includes community engagement, workshops and open studio practice as part of the work. More info
