SLIP CASTING BOWLS

In this class you will learn how to use slip to take casts from plaster molds and make beautifully refined bowls. You can either make a nest of 4 bowls of varying sizes or a set of 4 small bowls the same size.

This technique is a lovely introduction to ceramics and allows you to take home something very refined that looks like it’s been made on the wheel. In the first class, you will learn about the process of slip casting, using plaster molds to pour liquid clay into, to take the shape of the mold, before turning it out and refining the edges, allowing it to dry for the first firing. In the second class you will glaze your bowls before they go back in the kiln, where the magical transformation happens and your beautiful work will be ready to take home!
