Introducing SCAN Member Forums

Following our inaugural in-person Member Meetup in St Andrews in February, SCAN is continuing to develop our Membership Programme to ensure members can build sustainable practices and initiatives, create valuable peer-relationships and advocate for real change.
Current benefits include in-person Member Meetups, complimentary tickets to our Summit, and online SCAN Support sessions focused on learning and sharing within and beyond the membership. You can also access tailored support through bookable 1:1 Office Hours with the SCAN team; offering expertise, signposting, and practical guidance.
We’re now launching SCAN Member Forums: semi-regular online sessions bringing together members within communities of practice to build peer-networks, share learnings and identify areas for development. These sessions have developed from our aspirations to build more opportunities for two–way conversations with our membership, and to facilitate learning and sharing between members. The first two sessions will be for Individual and Organisational members.
1 – 2pm, Tuesday 7 April 2026. Register for your free place via Zoom here.
This Forum offers the chance to connect with fellow artists and arts freelancers and engage directly with the SCAN team. In a supportive space, we can discuss the opportunities and challenges of building a sustainable practice in Scotland and what does support look like. The team can share more about SCAN’s programme and recent advocacy work. These Forum discussions will directly inform SCAN’s policy work, and future programme design including the individual membership offering.
If there is something you would like to discuss at this meeting, please email Helen Moore, Deputy Director, [email protected] by 5pm, Monday 30 March 2026.
2 – 3.30pm, Wednesday 8 April 2026. Register for your free place via Zoom here.
At a time of real complexity and challenge, this Forum will provide a space for senior arts leaders to discuss sector development and identify areas for both SCAN support and collective action. It is an opportunity to regularly engage with the SCAN team, and directly inform SCAN’s advocacy and policy work, and future programme design including the organisational membership offering.
This session is open to senior leaders of member arts organisations. Please send one representative from your organisation i.e. Director or Deputy Director.
If you have an item for the agenda, please email Veronique AA Lapeyre, Director, [email protected] by 5pm, Monday 30 March 2026.
Forum sessions are open to SCAN members only. If you would like to attend a forum but are not sure which one is best for you, please contact Helen Moore, Deputy Director, [email protected].
Additional opportunities to meet fellow SCAN members
If you are part of an artist-led space, there are also opportunities to gather through our Affiliations programme. For those in the Highlands, you can also access monthly coffee mornings with Emma Gibson, our Highland Development Lead. These are typically held on the first Wednesday of the month – the next one is on Wednesday 1 April. Curators, we are in the process of refreshing our curatorial offering – in the meantime you may wish to attend the Individual Forum.
You can join SCAN today to access a wide range of benefits. You can join as an individual (artist, curator, writer, producer, arts worker) or as an organisation (gallery, museum, artist-led project, studio, workshop). Membership starts at £25 per year.
