Veronique AA Lapeyre appointed as new Director of SCAN

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Veronique AA Lapeyre as the new Director of Scottish Contemporary Art Network.
A highly skilled communications strategist and cultural advocate, Veronique has over 16 years’ experience working within Scottish organisations with a global reach, most recently as the Head of Communications and Digital at Craft Scotland. Her work spans across programming, organisational development, and strategic advocacy and storytelling campaigns.
Passionate about new ways of working, intersectionality and anti-racism action, Veronique is the founder of PERO and Project Zanana, supporting Black, Asian, Mixed Heritage and People of Colour working in creative industries. Veronique currently sits on committees including Culture Counts and the Fife African Caribbean Network and was Chair of SCAN’s Board from 2020 to 2022.
Veronique will be joined by Helen Moore – currently SCAN’s Interim Director – as Deputy Director, forming a dynamic and highly experienced leadership team for Scotland’s network for the contemporary art sector. Thanks to our award from Creative Scotland’s multi year funding programme, we will continue to progress our work in championing, connecting and advocating for Scotland’s contemporary art community.
Announcing the appointment, SCAN’s Chair Jenny Crowe said: “The Board are delighted to announce Veronique AA Lapeyre as the new Director at SCAN, who will be joined by Helen Moore as Deputy Director. Together Veronique and Helen are an energetic and compassionate leadership team that will continue to advocate for and respond to the membership’s priorities.
“The Board would also like to thank outgoing Director Moira Jeffrey, who successfully led the SCAN team for four years.”
Veronique AA Lapeyre said: “This spring I am delighted to join SCAN as Director, alongside Deputy Director Helen Moore, part of the newly developed leadership team. Through my previous cultural roles and having served as a SCAN Trustee and later Chair between 2017-2022, I have a deep knowledge of and respect for the organisation’s proactive and considered responses to the conversations, opportunities and challenges of our times – within the contemporary visual art and wider cultural sector.
“SCAN’s advocacy efforts, programming and support and care for its members are invaluable. It is a real honour to build on SCAN’s legacy, working with the team, Board, and members to drive meaningful change and shape positive futures for Scotland’s artists and visual arts community.”
Veronique will take up the post of Director in mid-April 2025.
