Micro Commissions for Emerging Artists in based in Grampian and Moray
Closing date 10 November 2022
Four emerging artists based in the North East of Scotland will be commissioned to work on a project with Lead Artist, Adrian Reid, and NHS Grampian Archives to respond to the current building work at the Foresterhill Health Campus. They will be engaged to look at the long heritage of the Foresterhill Site and the community it serves, and the legacy of the Campus.
Foresterhill Health Campus has over 100 years of history from the conception of the Joint Hospitals Scheme through to the opening of The Baird Family Hospital in March 2024. Since the laying of the foundation stone of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in 1928, the site has expanded with new hospitals and teaching facilities serving the whole of the North East of Scotland, Orkney and Shetland. By the end of the last century, Foresterhill became the biggest hospital campus in Europe with over 20,000 people onsite on a daily basis.
There are currently four new buildings in the development, The Baird Family Hospital, The ANCHOR Centre, The Bio Hub and the Mortuary. Future proposed building work will include the new National Trauma Centre building, and work on the current Maternity Hospital.
