Open Call for PrintMaker at Marchmont House

Glasgow Print Studio is proud to partner with Marchmont Creative Spaces to lead their Open Call for an exceptional printmaker to rent a subsidised and equipped Printmaking Studio on the Estate of Marchmont House.
The studio will be in the Green Shed, a large space, located in the Creative Spaces compound on the beautiful estate of Marchmont House, an outstanding Palladian mansion in the countryside of the Scottish borders.
This is a unique 2 year opportunity to be part of the Green Shed print studio’s genesis and have active input into it’s design and equipment for use as a predominantly private space which will be shared with others at designated times throughout the year, at discretion and supervision of tenant. All equipment and fit out is covered by Marchmont and two months in the studio are given rent free (normal subsidised rent £450 per month). Also £1000 of materials is given to acknowledge layout and design input.
The successful candidate will have exceptional technical skills and experience in wood engraving, woodcut and/or etching to be able to run the studio safely and efficiently to deliver their own practise as well as creating opportunities for other artists to benefit from this resource by delivering inductions/classes, occasional daily access to the equipment and materials The Green Shed tenant will manage this and retain all income generated by it. There may also be an artist-in-residence on occasion.
The successful candidate will not only have a fantastic studio for their own work and the ability to earn income from teaching/sharing the space but they will also become part of the burgeoning Marchmont Creative Spaces community; benefitting from peer support from other publicity, Open Studios and marketing offered by Marchmont.
This opportunity is open to all UK residents. Accommodation is not provided but there is small relocation budget if the successful applicant is not local to the area and looking to move to the locale.
Selection will be led by Glasgow Print Studio (GPS), with final decision in concert with Marchmont.
