About

The RSA Blackadder Houston Mid-Career Travel Award (£5,000) aims to enable a committed fine art painter to carry out the research, development and production of a new body of work through a dedicated period of international travel. Painters may use the funds to take a trip to any location outside the UK.

The award is funded by the RSA Blackadder Houston Bequest and administered by the Royal Scottish Academy.

Eligibility

Entrants must be mid-career painters who are at least 15 years out of art school or can demonstrate at least 15 years of substantive practice.

The entrant’s practice must be predominantly based in painting, this can be in any medium or subject.
Entrants must not currently be in education.
Entrants must be born or currently living in Scotland (and have been for at least consecutive 3 years).
