Office & Social Media Administrator Job Description

This role provides administrative support across the broad range of arts and sustainability projects that Sculpture Placement Group run and manage. You will be part of a small, busy team working across Glasgow and the rest of Scotland. SPG runs several arts and research projects spanning across public art commissions, skills development for Young People, sustainability in the arts and widening audiences for art. Three main aims underpin all of the work undertaken by SPG: To find ways of the arts to work more sustainably; to bring art into the lives of many more people and to help artists be better paid for the work that they do. 

The role: 

The role is focused on providing admin and social media support for two main projects run by SPG: Circular Arts Network https://www.canarts.org.uk and SPG Loan https://www.sculptureplacementgroup.org.uk/projects/loan/. You will work closely with the Communications Manager, SPG Loan’s Sales and Relationship Manager, and CAN’s Project Coordinator to carry out your role and will work collaboratively with them and with their guidance and support. The job will involve: 

  • Scheduling and managing transport for of artworks 
  • Booking technical staff and arranging installation equipment 
  • Drafting up contracts under instruction from SPG Loan staff
  • General filing 
  • Booking meeting rooms and making arrangements for events and staff meetings
  • Keeping track of emails and replying to general email enquiries 
  • Arranging staff travel 
  • Scheduling and attending meetings and taking minutes  
  • Supporting website functions 
  • Putting together and posting social media content under the direction of SPG Communications Manager 
  • Managing social media scheduling
  • Increasing online engagement and followers 

About the Post: 

The post will be on a fixed term contract for 6 months for 30 hours per week paid at the living wage which is £9.90 per hour. We would be happy to discuss flexible working and the post may be extended beyond this period if further funding is secured to support it. The post will be based at SPG’s offices at first, but home and flexible working can be accommodated. You will be enrolled in the company’s pension scheme and employer’s contributions will be made at 3%. 

About You: 

Skills and Experience Required: 

  • Previous experience in an Admin or Social Media Role 
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and manage own workload 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills 

Desirable Attributes: 

An interest or enthusiasm for the arts would be advantageous but is not essential to the role as we will provide full background to the organisation and the partners we work with will be provided.
