About
As a visual artist living and working on the southeast coast of Central Scotland, I use a range of media—drawing, digital photomontage, ceramics, and collage—to explore how repeated forms, structures, and visual rhythms can shape our understanding of landscape—both natural and manmade.
My work explores the connections between energy, identity, duplication and mortality and how industrial, scientific, and historical narratives leave visual traces in the environment and our imagination.
Although individual pieces of my work may appear visually distinct, they are united by an underlying engagement with landscape and a shared approach to process. My ongoing fascination with duplication and environmental pattern continues to drive my creative development, offering new ways to interpret place through the lens of repetition, memory, and material culture.
My fine art series Electric Landscapes began in 2020, when Switch – Torness was selected as the cover image for FLOW, Visual Art Scotland’s online exhibition. Since then, Fridge Fusion was chosen for the inaugural Scottish Landscape Awards Exhibition in 2023, and both Fridge Fusion and Coal Fired were selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2024. Most recently, The Two Dolly’s was longlisted for the Scottish Landscape Awards 2025.
Alongside my studio-based practice, I run a regular stall at the historic Tron Kirk Market on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, where I sell work from my popular Bothy series under the name Coorie Bothy Shoppie. The work has featured in several magazine articles and continues to be very popular with both tourists and locals.
