About

I work in clay making both functional and sculptural forms. Inspiration comes from the area I live in, the West coast of Argyll – the lochs and glen, trees and hills, plus the evidence of early human settlements. These I interpret using a range of high-fired stoneware clays, slips and recycled glass. This makes most of my functional and sculptural forms suitable for outdoor display. Current work frequently uses rock strata textures in surface finishes, as well as manmade Neolithic ‘rock art’ carvings and markings. Standing Stones, waterfalls, rockpools and trees are themes I currently enjoy working around. I also enjoy the challenge of working with the human form,  often interpreting it through mythological themes, such as the green man.
