About
Narture CIC
Transforming communities through food, art and creativity.
Founded in 2020, by father and daughter artist team Robert and Saskia Singer- Narture CIC is a community arts and food social enterprise based in Ayr, Scotland. We revitalise vacant town centre properties, turning empty buildings into vibrant spaces for creativity, culture and community wellbeing.
Our model is simple: we bake real bread to earn the dough to fund arts.
Profits from our food spaces are reinvested into artisan bread training/ apprenticeships, local employment, creative programmes, affordable workspaces and community-led activity — supporting local talent and widening access to the arts.
What began as a small Sourdough Bakery and café has grown into an interconnected network of five once-derelict run down spaces — now vibrant, creative food and arts hubs at the heart of Ayr town centre.
KNEAD – our award-winning bakery, specialising in handmade sourdough supplying both retail and wholesale locally to a wide range of cafes/restaurants and hotels.
SHAPE – our café, bar and events venue, home to our retail bakery, deli and sit-in café. A space for supper clubs, gigs, talks and cultural gatherings, centred around healthy, handmade food and drink.
MAKE – a hands-on artist in residence studio offering local, national and international creatives the opportunity to make, show and interact.
CREATE – our Riso print studio and darkroom, supporting analogue publishing, photography and print-based workshops.
STUDIOS – affordable artist & wellbeing studios & creative workspaces, providing a long-term base for local makers, freelancers and small creative businesses to develop and grow within Ayr.
Together, these spaces form a growing creative ecosystem rooted in regeneration, sustainability and inclusion. We create employment and training opportunities, support creative enterprise and design programmes that strengthen local identity and economic resilience.
We believe everyone is an artist — and that food and creativity, when combined, can drive meaningful social and economic change.
